Question 8 ..........................................................................................................(10 Marks)
Ergonomics / human factors is a multidisciplinary activity striving to
assemble information on people's capacities and capabilities for use in
designing jobs, products, workplaces, and equipment. In the United
States the military and aerospace industries have generally accepted
human factors principles, but most other industries have been less
quick to understand the benefits.
The probable benefits of well-designed jobs, equipment, and workplaces
are improved productivity, safety, health and increased satisfaction for
the employees. Removing unnecessary effort from jobs or reducing
demands by improving the way in which information is transferred
between people or between product and people (inspection) allows for
greater productivity and, ultimately, higher profitability.
The terms ergonomics and human factors are often used synonymously.
Both describe the interaction between the operator and the job
demands, and both are concerned with trying to reduce unnecessary
stress in the workplace. Ergonomics, however, has traditionally focused
on how work affects people. This focus includes studies of their
physiological responses to physically demanding work; environmental
stressors such as heat, noise, and illumination; complex psychomotor
assembly tasks; and visual-monitoring tasks. The emphasis has been
on ways to reduce fatigue by designing tasks within people's work
capacities. In contrast, human factors, as practiced in the United
States, has traditionally been more interested in the man-machine
interface, or human engineering. It has focused on people's behavior as
they interact with equipment, workplaces, and their environment, as
well as on human size and strength capabilities relative to workplace
and equipment design. The emphasis of human factors is often on
designs that reduce the potential for human error.

Chacha Nehru Scholarship

Chacha Nehru Scholarship for Artistic and Innovative Excellence

Primacy to Art Education

The importance of arts in the education system has been repeatedly discussed and
recommended over the decades. Rather than encouraging the pursuit of arts the
education system in the country tends to relegate arts to be useful hobbies and
leisure activities. The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 reiterates the
importance of Art Education at all stages of school education so that we retain our
unique cultural identity in all its diversity. NCF 2005 recommends four major areas
of Art Education at the Secondary and Senior Secondary stages. These include
Music, Dance, Visual Arts and Theatre. NCF 2005 also stipulates that students
must be introduced to the rich and varied art traditions in the country with due
emphasis on learning rather than teaching. The approach should be participatory,
interactive and experiential, rather than instructive. Such an approach should foster
self-expression and self-awareness among children. It should create aesthetic
awareness and develop imagination, enhance confidence in movement and speech,
promote tolerance and sensitivity.

National Bal Bhawan: Bal Shree programme:

The National Bal Bhawan has played a vital role in the promotion of Arts throughout
the length and breadth of the country. Currently there are 73 state and district Bal
Bhawans in the country. The National Bal Bhawan has instituted a system of
honouring talented children in different age groups in the year 1995 through the
Bal Shree scheme. The Bal Shree programme recognizes talent in the following areas:
1. Creative Performance
2. Creative Arts
3. Creative Scientific Innovations
4. Creative Writing
The National Bal Bhawan makes a selection of creative children through activities
conducted at three levels, viz:
1. Local level by organizing 2-day camps in which 8 children (2 in each
stream) are identified at the local level

2. Zonal Levels by organizing 3 days camps in which local experts,
specialists from six zones, namely North, East, West, Central, South-I
and South -II participate for selection of children

3. National Levels by organizing 4 day camps from the six zones in the
country. A panel of experts and resource persons representing the
four streams are identified to observe and assess the creativity of
children.

On an average 150 children participate in the National level camp and approximately
50 children are chosen for the Bal Shree honour. The criteria for selection of children for the Bal Shree award includes (a) originality, (b) innovative approach, (c) fluency, (d) flexibility, (e) divergent thinking, (f) elaboration of ideas, (g) creative processes culminating into meaningful products, (h) effective functioning in the group, (i) analytical and critical approach. The National Bal Bhawan has developed a comprehensive activities bank in order to identify the creative skills of the children. During the selection process children are provided a barrier free environment and an interactive and supportive environment aimed at bringing out the best in children.

Children thus selected are honoured by the President of India and presented a Bal
Shree certificate.

Chacha Nehru Scholarships for Artistic and Innovative Excellence:

With a view to further encouraging and nurturing talent NCERT will support the
children who participate in the National Camp organised by the National Bal Bhawan
through a scheme of Chacha Nehru Scholarships for Artistic and Innovative
Excellence. The Chacha Nehru Scholarships for Artistic and Innovative Excellence
will be available to children pursuing secondary and senior secondary education in
classes IX XII. The salient features of the scholarship scheme will be as follows:

1. Children participating in the National Camps of the National Bal Bhawan and
pursuing studies in Classes IX XII will be awarded an scholarship of Rs 500
per month for a period of four year till they complete Class XII.

2. The National Bal Bhawan will continue to independently design and evolve its
testing tools and evaluation/ assessment schemes for identification of Bal
Shree awardees. The National Bal Bhawan will also independently administer
the activities/ tests for identification of Bal Shree awardees.

3. The National Bal Bhawan will submit to NCERT a list of children studying in
classes IX XII who have been selected for participation in the National Bal
Bhawan Camp for award of the Chacha Nehru Scholarships for Artistic and
Innovative Excellence. This list will be accompanied by detailed information on
each child as per proforma developed by NCERT.
Advisory Committee:

An especially constituted Advisory Committee will monitor the implementation of the
NCERT-Bal Shree scholarships with the following membership:

1. Chairperson will be a person of repute from the world of arts and culture.

2. The Director, NCERT, Director, National Bal Bhawan, Chairman, CBSE and Director General CCRT will be ex-officio members of the Managing
Committee

3. There will be four nominees of the National Bal Bhawan and NCERT
representing the areas of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Creative Writing and
Scientific Innovation.

4. The Department of Educational Measurement and Evaluation (DEME) in the
NCERT will provide the secretariat support for the functioning of the
Advisory Committee. Accordingly the Head, DEME will function as the
Member Secretary of the Advisory Committee.

The Advisory Committee will give policy recommendations from time to time to
improve the content of the scheme and give specific suggestions on other avenues
for spotting and nurturing talent in these arts, particularly in remote, inaccessible
and educationally deprived areas.

The Advisory Committee will consider ideas and proposals for longitudinal research
based studies to assess whether the creativity of the Bal Shree awardees has been
sustained and identify factors conducive to developing creativity, etc.
The Advisory Committee will take decisions on a case-to-case basis for continuation
of financial support to children to pursue further professional studies in Arts beyond
class XII.

The Advisory Committee will oversee, monitor evaluate the implementation of the
scheme of scholarships. It will be responsible for evolving a mechanism for tracking
the progress of each child so that each child awarded the Chacha Nehru
Scholarships for Artistic and Innovative Excellence can achieve her/ his full
potential.

Non -official Advisory Committee members invited to the meetings of the Managing
Committee will be entitled to facilities (TA/DA, local travel, etc.) available to Class I
Government Officers for the purpose of attending meetings.

Swine Flu Diagnosis

How to diagnose Human infections with swine influenza virus ?

Swine Flue Diagnosis

First a respiratory specimen is collected from the patient with 4-5 days of infection to diagnose the swine flu influenza virus; because this is the time when the infected human body produces more viruses. This case is for normal adults. But in the case of children the period may last for 10 days or longer. Then the collected specimen will be sent to the laboratory for testing in order to identify the swine flu influenza.

Swine flu infected patients should be considered more separated because of the possibility which stays up to 7 days following the illness. This potential contagious is longer for children

Swine flu Vaccine

As now there is no vaccine which is much ready to protect against pandemic flu.It is estimated that at least 6-12 months needed to produce the Vaccine against Swine Flu virus H1N1.Protections like Seasonal flu vaccine or past flu immunization may not be sufficient.

Medicines for swine flu

Oseltamivir Tamiflu or zanamivir Relenza can be used to treat or prevent the infection caused by the swine influenza virus. These drugs are recommended by US CDC.

The reproduction rate of H1N1 virus inside the human body can be controlled by using the antiviral drugs which are the prescription medicines like liquids, pills or inhaler. These antiviral drugs make the illness milder by preventing the serious flu complications.

Lifetime of Swine Flue Virus

It is a general fact that some viruses and bacteria can live up to 2 hours or longer on surfaces like doorknobs, desks and cafeteria tables. The chances of getting contamination from these surfaces can be reduced by washing the hands frequently. This viruses spread from human to human when he/she touches these contaminated surfaces and then touches his/her nose, eyes or mouth and touches another person.

August Second Week

Last Week

Last week market didnt see a long run rather halted the three weeks global market rally which reflected very well in our financial markets. Some boosts came in through the earnings from the local companies. Some results cheered and some results were dull. But there was no huge sell off in any counter but there could be some pressure seen sectors like autos and reality.
With the earning seasons over what are the cues and triggers for this week and what are the support levels and trading ideas. Lets catch the fish in the pond.

Crucial Support Levels for Global Indices

Dow Jones Industrial average saw the indices going southwards but on friday gave a pull back rally on the better than the expected unemployment report which claimed a dip in the jobless percentage for the firs time after the recession.
Technical index S&P continues to indicate that 1000 mark is the huge support level. Hence this counter is expected to flourish this week.

Nikkie shows some strength along with the global cues. No problems and no need to worry as there are no huge data awaited this week from this week.

Honk Kong's Hang Seng crossed the 21K level and remains range bound too and fro motion of maintaining the 20K strong support levels. Keep this as the indicator for entry and one can go long at these levels rather can carrying a sell order.

Bombay Stock Exchange BSE has already touched 16K mark which is the expected level under the earnings season. But now the earning seasons are over and the market is awaiting for the monsoon revivals. Do you know market can touch 20K levels by the end of this year. By analysing the chart we can say we are approaching the end of recession and industries start to get projects in all fields. So it is better to carry long positions as the stock valuations are not so expensive at these level. If not now can you buy the stocks of interest at 20K levels, so decide what is right now. Dont believe the trade calls as they are given for trading and not for investments.

National Stock Exchange NSE hit a bull shit levels the last week.
Nifty sees support around 4300 levels and investors and traders can take any position in the funda valued stocks and book profit at 4700-4800 levels by the august end.

Foreign Exchange

Rupee continues to show bitter reaction which is bad for the IT exporters. As the earnings are over and analyzing the forex chart there are no pressure at the current level. It is speculated that rupee can go 49 levels against dollar even thought dollar is expected to show some strength this week.

Commodities

MCX Buy sell Tips

Energy

Crude the liquid diamond journey of up and down is over and it is the time that crude to be settled at the 70 kind of levels. So there cannot be a huge gains expected in this trading unlike equity trading.

Metals

Copper and aluminium outperformed the last two weeks touching the new highs day by day. But there is a huge pressure seen at the top levels where it will take a reverse journey in the coming weeks. So metal sector is expected to see a medium sell off this week.

Gold CMX

950 levels is the mass support for this yellow metal trading. Neither the demand is low nor the wish is degrading. people are ready to buy at any levels.
Gold can see new highs this week and by this month as the festive seasons are approaching.

Free Nse, BSE tips

Monsoon revival is expected this week in the eastern part of the country. But the average percentage of rainfall is lower than expected for this year.
Expect the fertilizer stocks like Chambal fertilizers, National fertilizers to be under pressure this week and it is better to remain short in this counter.

Consumer beauty products share decreases for HUL stock . This already saw 7% correction last week and this week HUL, ITC remains under rated.

Real estate sector is the one that anyone can go long as the land rates start to revive as the recession is over mos part of it.
Stocks like DLF, IVRCL Infra are looking attractive at these levels.
Stock to watch is India Bull real estate which can go upto 260-270 kind of levels as there is a power IPO expected to hit the equity market. FII holdings are the highest in this stock than any other real estate stocks. So the stocks looks very attractive at the current price. If market steps up this will flare to the above said levels. This is a huge momentum stock and please dont go short in this.

Infrastructure space is expected to get some norms and announcements this week. One can take long positions in the PunjLloyd stock which is in the midcap space. Stock is looking attractive and expected to fetch huge orders from central. The target for this stock is 250-255 in the upside for short term and 300 is the next target if Nifty sustains above 4700 in this week.
